About

It all started in the Arabian neighborhood of Sofia, Bulgaria, back in 2016. I invited my IT colleagues to a cooking class, thinking it would be a fun break from our usual routines. We asked the instructors to recommend an interesting place in the city, and without hesitation, they mentioned the Iraqi restaurant of Chef Freddie.

We didn’t visit it right away, but the thought lingered. One afternoon, while in the neighborhood, I decided to check it out on my own. It was a dimly lit place with a strong aroma of spices. I ordered a few dishes, but honestly, I wasn’t blown away at first. Still, something told me to give it another shot.

The next time, I gathered my colleagues, and we went all in—ordering half the menu. That meal changed everything. The flavors were like nothing I’d tasted before—rich, aromatic, addictive. The food took me on a journey to another place, and that meal was the spark that lit my passion for exploring traditional food and world cuisines.

Soon after, I started to travel for food, chasing authentic culinary experiences wherever I went. I took food tours, searched for local restaurants, and made it my mission to taste the most traditional dishes possible. The unfamiliar flavors kept me inspired, driving me to experiment in my own kitchen and learn everything I could about the stories behind the dishes.

Now, years later, I’ve created this food blog to share my journey—traveling for food, cooking traditional recipes, and telling the stories behind them. Every recipe on this blog tells a story. Whether it’s tied to a trip, a chef I met, or a childhood memory, each dish has a special place in my heart.

Welcome to my food journey—I can’t wait to share it with you!
